Understand the Penalties of a DUI Charge

Attorney Vaughan understands your concerns after being charged with a first-offense DUI. This is more than a traffic violation. Your driver’s license will be automatically suspended for seven days if your blood alcohol content is .08 percent or higher.

DUI charge can also result in a mandatory minimum fine of $250 and your driver’s license being revoked for one year. You also may be required to install an ignition interlock device in your vehicle.

Impact on Your Driving Privileges

You will need to complete an Alcohol Safety Action Program (ASAP) to get your license reinstated. You may have to complete an education or treatment program, or both in some cases. First-time offenders will also be on probation for one year.

You may be eligible for a restricted license after your license has been revoked due to a DUI charge. Restricted driving privileges can be granted by the court or the Department of Motor Vehicles. If you receive a restricted driver’s license, you will only be allowed to drive to and from work, school, or other necessary reasons such as to receive medical care.

Reviewing Your Case to Find the Best Outcome

We represent individuals facing DUI charges throughout the surrounding areas in Virginia. She understands state laws and how criminal charges can impact your entire way of life.
